Athletic Policy

The Athletic Program at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic School is open to all students in grades 6-8, with Fifth Graders being invited to participate only in case of strong interest and/or the need to fill out a roster. Our teams participate in an interscholastic program coordinated by the Catholic Athletic Association (CAA). Any student in grades 6-8 may participate, as long as he/she is in compliance with school policies on eligibility. It is the policy of St. Pascal Baylon Catholic School that no athlete is ever "cut" from a team. The following sports are offered at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic School: volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, fast pitch softball, golf, and track.

Two St.Pascal Teams Play For Championship

It was a case of good news and better news for St. Pascal's volleyball teams on Sunday, October 28, 2007 as two of the school's teams advanced to CAA city championship matches at St. Agnes High School on that day.

The C volleyball team, made up of fifth and sixth graders advanced through a bracket of 49 teams to reach the title match against St. John the Evangelist of Little Canada. St. Pascal's had finished the regular season with a record of 8-1 and won four playoff matches to reach the finals. The Knights played well in the championship match but lost two close games to a very good St. John's team to finish as City Runners-Up. Congratulations to coaches Chris Steigauf and Anita Mills and team members Haley Anderson, Taylor Carmody, Rachel Lamont, Naomi Loving, Anne Mills, Maddy Nielsen, Gretta Steigauf, Carly Koemptgen, Sarah Link and Lily Reyes on an outstanding season.

St. Pascal's B team, made up of seventh graders, also advanced through a 45 team field to reach the championship match. St. Pascal's finished the regular season with a 5-4 record plus a second place finish in the Presentation tournament. The Knights raised their level of play in the playoffs to win four straight matches and reach the City Championship match, where they also faced St. John the Evangelist. St. John's won a very close first game and St. Pascal's rebounded to win an equally close second game to set up a decisive third game. The deciding game was all St. Pascal's as the Knights won15-4 to claim the city championship. Members of the team were Megan Baker, Rachael Frazer, Katie Jonza, Carmen Grace Poppert, Mackenzie Rice, Mackenzie Richardson, Shannon Roth, Ellen Russo, Mona Santa Ana and Sydney Sosa. The team was coached by Jenny and Kristen Czaplewski. Great job girls!

Winter Sports

Sign-up for Winter sports usually takes place in late October. The following sports are offered in the winter:

  • Basketball (Boys' and Girls' teams)
Whenever possible, we will offer a boys' team and a girls' team at grade level (in other words, a Sixth Grade team, a Seventh Grade team and an Eighth Grade team). Games are played once a week from early December until mid- February. Teams will often play 1-3 weekend tournaments during the season.

Spring Sports

Sign-up for spring sports usually takes place in early March. The following sports are offered in the Spring:
